Yankees name Asmus bench coach
The New York Yankees have officially named Brad Asmus as their bench coach, MLB.com reported on Nov. 22.
After bench coach Carlos Mendoza left the organization to become the new manager of the New York Mets under Aaron Boone, the Yankees hired Asmus, a former big league manager, as their new bench coach.
Asmus, who spent 18 years as a catcher in the big leagues, made his major league managerial debut in 2014 when he took over the Detroit Tigers. He led Detroit through the 2017 season before taking over the Los Angeles Angels for one season in 2019. In five seasons as a manager, he compiled a record of 386-422 (.478 winning percentage).
After stepping down as Angels manager, Boone served as a bench coach for the Oakland Athletics in 2022 and was part of the coaching staff for Team Israel at the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC).
Asmus, meanwhile, becomes the third bench coach to assist Boone. 토토사이트
