Does this strange billboard means the Ford Probe is coming back? Just when we thought automakers weren’t taking into account the desires and needs of the true car enthusiasts, we saw this incredible sign and realized that at least one automaker still cares. What you’re seeing here is a billboard on the I-294 near Chicago’s O’Hare airport. A billboard for a Ford Probe GT!
The billboard of the Ford Probe is real and not something taken in 1997
Look at the picture and you’ll know it right away, first there’s a very recent Acura TL there (2009-2014 model or so?), and a Chicago Travel Show (happened January 21-22) billboard in the background.
So that must mean that the billboard is a teaser for a rebirth of the Ford Probe! Even a Probe GT. And, as we can see at the billboard, Ford’s made a good decision bringing it back with the same styling it had back in the late ‘90s, down to the three-spoke wheels and the now impossible-to-find-on-a-new-vehicle pop-up headlamps.
This may mean that Ford and Mazda are getting back together, after their split in 2013? Anyway, the Probe was a car having 60 percent of Mazda. It’s possible the company is making the new Probe completely internally, but who knows? This is so cool.
What else could this mean if not that? It is not possible to say that decades of billboard layers were peeled off this billboard, uncovering an ad that hasn’t seen daylight since the Clinton administration? No way. There’s going to be a new Probe! We’re determined.
Ford, please consider this our demand to be invited to the launch event. The Probe is so epic. It is a liftback coupé introduced by Ford 1989 which replaced the Ford EXP as Ford’s sport compact car.
