Hwang Hee-chan and Wolverhampton are reportedly in talks to renew his contract.
David Onstein, a reporter for The Athletic in the United Kingdom and one of the most respected sources on the Premier League (PL), reported on April 19 (KST) that “Wolverhampton are in talks with Hwang Hee-chan to renew his contract. Hwang’s existing contract does not expire until 2026, but he has become a key player this season. The club wants to reward him for his performance with an improved contract.”
Hwang decided to leave RB Leipzig on loan to Wolverhampton midway through the 2021-22 season after struggling to make an impact. Shortly after joining the club on loan, Hwang performed so well that Wolverhampton were so pleased with his performance that they decided to buy him outright.
In the 2022-23 season, Hwang was expected to do even better, but he struggled midway through the season and began to receive criticism. He hoped to bounce back at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but injuries hampered his performance, and there were talks of selling him.
At the end of the 2022-23 season, the UK’s Express and Star reported that “a number of surplus resources are expected to leave. Raul Jimenez, Johnny Castro, Daniel Podense and Layan Ayit-Nuri are nearing the end of their time at Wolverhampton. The same goes for players like Hwang Hee-chan.”
However, Hwang is starting to be fully recognized as the club’s ace in the hole for the 2023-24 season. With seven goals and two assists in just 13 official games, Hwang is enjoying one of his best campaigns since moving to the Premier League (PL). With Wolverhampton facing relegation due to their financial woes, it’s safe to say that Hwang’s performances are leading the way.
With six goals and two assists in the league, Hwang is tied for sixth in the league in goals scored and sixth in attacking points. Hwang is reportedly in a positive frame of mind.
According to Onstein, “Negotiations are progressing positively with both parties wanting to keep Hwang at Molineux Stadium. Hwang is known to love playing under Gary O’Neill at Wolverhampton and is expected to sign an extension if the terms are right.” 무지개토토 주소
If Hwang wants to play for a bigger club than Wolverhampton, there’s no reason to rush to re-sign. His contract with Wolverhampton runs until the 2025-26 season, which is still a long way off. If he continues to perform well throughout the season, he could get a better offer.
