Japanese soccer is on a roll. The team is performing evenly across all age groups. The A team, coached by Hajime Moriyasu, has won seven games in a row. They haven’t lost since March 28 against Colombia (1-2). In June, they swept El Salvador (6-0) and Peru (4-1) at home. In September, they traveled to Europe. They defeated Germany (4-1) and Turkiye (4-2). Japan was particularly dominant, defeating Germany in two consecutive matches. The two teams met in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Japan came from behind to win 2-1. The momentum continued. In October, they beat Canada (4-1) and Tunisia (2-0) at home. Japan surpassed Canada in just one year. Last November, Japan played Canada in a friendly ahead of the World Cup in Qatar. It was an upset loss, 1-2. In November, the Moriyasu won 5-0 against Myanmar in the first match of the 2026 North and Central American World Cup Asia Second Qualifying Round. During the seven-game winning streak, Japan was dominant, scoring 27 goals and conceding just five. The team was strong at home and away. Most importantly, they were able to win on every continent, including Europe, North America, and South America.
Japan will play an away match against Syria in the Asian qualifiers on Nov. 21. Coach Moriyasu said, “Every game is difficult, not just Myanmar. We need to be sure of what we can do. No matter what the opponent does, we need to play our game well. I hope we can continue to be a team that takes things for granted.”
The age-group teams are also looking strong. The U-22 team, led by Oiwa Goh, won 5-2 at home against the Argentina U-22 team in a practice match. The two teams went into halftime tied 1-1. Japan conceded five minutes into the second half to fall behind 1-2. However, they then exploded for four goals to win 5-2.
Japan will now look to qualify for the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar next April. The tournament serves as the final Asian qualifier for the Paris Olympics. The top three teams will qualify directly for the Olympic Games. Fourth place will be decided by the fourth-place finisher in the African qualifiers and an intercontinental playoff. South Korea, led by Hwang Sun-hong, is expected to compete for the Olympic ticket. 무지개토토 주소
Japan’s U-17 national team also qualified for the tournament at the FIFA World Cup. Japan went 2-1 in Group D of the tournament. They tied with Argentina and Senegal in the Group of Death. However, they lost on goal difference and advanced to the round of 16 as the third wild card. Japan reached the round of 16 for the third consecutive U-17 World Cup. Japan’s Rento Takaoka leads the team in scoring with four goals.
