Jannarelly reveals flip-up roof option for the Design-1 sports car and will go on sale in 2017. It will be an enclosed version of its first model, the deliciously retro Design-1. The company is based in Dubai and has revealed the design of the car in a series of computer-generated images.

Jannarelly Design-1 Coupe Will Be the Best Option for Those Wanting Extreme Style

A coupe isn’t the right way to describe the car. Because of the separation line we see between the roof and newly added rear coupe roofline, Targa top is appropriate. The original Design-1 looked amazing, but the new lines placed to support a hard-top roof change the game entirely. Only 30 Design-1s were ever sent to the US at $55,000 and we sincerely hope that Jannarelly brings more to America barring a brutal increase in price.

Jannarelly revealed both a hard-top and a windshield option for the car

Besides the hard-top version, they have also revealed a new windshield option (WS) for the car. The hard-top is exclusive in that it flips forward making access to cabin easier and is made from carbon fiber. However, we don’t know if the roof is permanently attached or removable. The windshield version has a built-in defogger and wipers.

The Design-1 is a lightweight sports car penned by the French designer Anthony Jannarelly. The power comes from a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6 sourced from Nissan, routed to the rear via the 6-speed manual. The engine offers 304 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The original Design-1 was intended for the enthusiast thanks to a rear-wheel drive, low curb weight, and a steel tubular frame cladded by carbon fiber, aluminum, and fiberglass body parts.

Thanks to the wind-friendly roof, the Design-1 will sprint to 60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds and top out at 135 mph.

Jannarelly had hoped to start deliveries in the US last November. However, the new roof and windshield options have led to delays. Another important change was the upgrade of the front suspension to fit inboard shock absorbers.

Since we expect the price to stay reasonable, the Jannarelly Design-1 coupe will likely be the best option for those who don’t want to spend $90,000 on a Jaguar F-Type. Pre-orders for the car can be made via the website www.jannarellyusa.com and pricing are expected to start at $84,000.
