Mate Rimac, the head of the Croatian company Rimac, revealed a video on which we can see an incredible acceleration of the electric Concept One model. It is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 2.6 seconds.
This was the theory of its acceleration at least, but it is something completely different when the acceleration test is done in real conditions.
In the video below, you can see how it looks like when the car reaches a hundred kilometers per hour from both, passenger side perspective and from the corner of the monitor which is located outside the vehicle. From what we saw, the acceleration is really crazy.
However, we can notice that the first part of the test is made in an inhabited place, where the speed limit is probably 50 km/h, and where this test is certainly not supposed to be implemented. Rimac One gets powered by four electric motors, each of which drives one of the four wheels. The total combined power reaches 1,088 hp (800 kW), while the maximum torque is 1.600 Nm. Due to the configuration of 4 motors, Concept One has a drive to all four wheels.
The vehicle boasts with R-AWTV (All Wheel Torque Vectoring) system which seeks an optimal torque that is electronically distributed to each of the four wheels depending on current needs while driving. R-AWTV also functions as a system for controlling the movement of the wheels, the stability of the car and electrical ABS. The system includes the option for regenerative braking on all four wheels, which returns part of the electricity and also saves carbon-ceramic brakes.
The motors are powered by batteries (a combination of lithium, iron, and phosphorus) and with a capacity of 91 kWh and autonomy of 500 km the car is capable of reaching from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.6 seconds.
