One of only four black Ferrari F50 models ever built was up for sale and valued at over $3 million. If you want this one, be sure to bring all your money bags. It was scheduled to be auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction this winter, this is one of the two black F50s that Ferrari built for the American market.
This Black Ferrari F50 is the only car of its kind in the US
The other two black U.S.-spec F50 was apparently crashed a few years ago. This was a blessing in disguise for this model since now it’s the only car of its kind in the States. It’s expected to be expensive—at least $3 million, which is logical since there are only 2090 miles on the odometer.
When it was new, it featured an F1-inspired V12 that produced 513 horsepower and 347 lb.-ft. of torque. It was extremely quick, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, and extremely rare, with only 349 ever built. What makes it the rarest car, is that only four of those were originally painted black.
Intriguingly, Ferrari didn’t actually sell this model when it was new. To keep speculators from artificially inflating prices, the F50 was only available as a lease.
It was originally “priced” at $560,640 so, buyers were required to give $240,000 down payment to Ferrari, then pay $5600 per month for two years. At the end of those 24 months an additional $150,000 were required to pay off the car. No such things will be necessary to buy this example—just bring cash.
