DODGE returns the name VIPER in a new racing version Dodge Viper SRT GTS-R. The supermodel Viper, which lately has been produced under the brand SRT, is again part of the company’s range of Dodge. Americans unveiled a new racing version of the performance – Dodge Viper SRT GTS-R, which will debut at Watkins Glen track within the tournament IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship 2014.
The vehicle is created in the classic Dodge Viper racing colors – red with white stripes. These colors are painted on the model that won in 1999 and 2000 race in the American Le Mans Series and the marathon race 24 hours of Le Mans in class GTS. The machines that run under the SRT brand in IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship were gray.
“The return of the Dodge Viper racing is to honor the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the brand. The new color of our machines not only brings us back to their classic look but also helps their association to carry that legacy,” commented the head of SRT, Ralph Gilles.
SRT brand is owned by Dodge since May 2014, and this solution is part of the strategy for the development of all brands of Alliance Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. As a stand alone unit, SRT brand has persisted for about 2 years.
