Regardless of how much we like the modern technology and the latest advances in the Supercars, the American Muscle Cars are always in our hearts. If ever there were proof that Bizarro World exists, then this Dodge Challenger Shakedown might just be it.
Whereas the modern Dodge Challenger is a new car made to look like an old car, the Shakedown Challenger is just the opposite – it is an old car made to look like a new car.
Technically, the Shakedown is a 1971 Challenger, but the crew at FCA added 2017 Challenger taillights, headlights and a grille to give that classic coupe a contemporary look.
Additionally, the rear lip spoiler, the custom lower front fascia, as well as the modern 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels further blur the line between old and new.
As the Mopar 392” fender decals imply, the Shakedown is motivated by Dodge’s 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8. The custom-made exhaust, the functional hood scoop, and a cold-air intake provide the 392-cubic-inch engine with an extra bit of grunt. It is an RWD, features custom suspension components, six-speed manual transmission, and Brembo brake calipers.
All this ensures the Shakedown’s other dynamic qualities are as capable as its impressive powertrain.
A Mix of classic design and modern technology – a winning combination for this muscle!
