Jerome Boateng is set to make a professional comeback after training with his hometown club Bayern Munich but failing to secure a first-team contract.
According to German newspaper Bild, the midfielder has held talks with Bundesliga side Heidenheim but hasn’t made a decision as he has more offers.
Boateng is a “legend” who played for Bayern for 10 years, starting in 2011, after stints at Hertha BSC, Hamburg and Manchester City. With Bayern, he reached the top of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and won the World Cup with the German national team. He left Bayern in 2021 after winning the highest honor in soccer. After playing for French side Olympique Lyonnais, he is currently without a club this season.
Bayern tried to sign Boateng after a botched transfer window last summer. After letting go of three defenders who could play multiple positions, they only signed center-back Kim Min-jae and left-back Rafael Geheiro, leaving them with quality problems. The center-back position in particular has started the season with no bench options, as Kim’s partners, Dayo Upamecano and Matthijs Düricht, have both been injured. If Kim Min-jae suffers even a minor injury, the defense will be crippled. With only free agents available for in-season signings, Boateng was the obvious choice.
However, after dealing with a number of personal issues during his time at Bayern, including being investigated for alleged dating violence, Boateng faced stiff opposition from fans to return to the club. Ultimately, Bayern renounced his first-team contract, but continued to allow him to train with the second team so he could get fit. 무지개토토 주소
Then Heidenheim, 13th in the Bundesliga, made an offer for Boateng. Promoted side Heidenheim reportedly believe that Boateng’s long experience in the Bundesliga will allow him to contribute more than just his skills.
Boateng’s willingness to listen to more offers could mean that he’s getting a better deal than Heidenheim, meaning that several big league clubs are interested. A professional return could be on the horizon.
